This autumn, Lab by Transport for Wales is set to host its first –ever, one-of-a-kind, hackathon; an event that brings experts together to help solve certain problems, within a set duration of time.
A Hackathon is creative problem-solving, it does not have to involve technology or ‘doing things you shouldn’t be’. Hackathons allow experts to work together in a fun, yet competitive environment and are generally run over a 24 to 48 hour period.
Who takes part
If you have a keen interest in computer programming, software development, graphic design or are a project manager, product manager or domain expert, you are an ideal candidate to take part in a session.
The event is designed to solve problems. Alongside each workshop is a problem-solving task, in which each group can then be given a part of a problem to solve, or every team can work independently and then share their ideas at the end.
The Goal
The goal of a hackathon is to create a functioning software or hardware and by condensing the work into a 24 to 48 hour period allows participants to become more productive and stops people from over-thinking or over-complicating the solution to the problem.
