Monday June 29 saw the first ever VIRTUAL Demo Day of the exciting first cohort of the innovation “Lab” by Transport for Wales (TfW)

Cohort 1 of the 12-week accelerator programme saw eight tech start-up’s working with a team of Innovation experts from Alt Labs, the Innovation partners of KeolisAmey and Transport for Wales Rail.

This programme helped the start-ups involved to develop a solution, whether it be product or service, capable of improving the Welsh rail customer experience.

Ideas ranged from passenger information systems, app integration for greener travel, smart benches and more.

3 start-up’s were crowned winners of the programme, and awarded prize money for their participation on the programme. A total of 5 start-up’s have progressed into commercial discussions with Transport for Wales Rail following the programme.

The top 3 start-ups of the programme were:

Briteyellow Ltd –

Briteyellow Ltd produced an app that improves passenger experience for all. It is designed to help customers navigate our stations using real-time information about potential crowds and facilities within the station. Including visual, voice and haptic guides to check accessibility points and guide customers around the station, the app also has the exciting capability of a virtual tour and is able to identify a passenger assist request.
